merge: adopt remote main history, V8.10.0-dev.1 tree supersedes V5 baseline

Remote main carried a V5 source baseline plus COMPLETION_PLAN.md (v1.0/v2.0).
Our tree is the V8.10.0-dev.1 continuation of that same lineage; the plan
document is preserved. Their commits stay reachable, our tree wins wholesale.
